Complaints & Discipline

The New Mexico Board of Nursing regulates nursing practice, education and the practice of RNs, LPNs, Nurse Practitioners, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Certified Medication Aides and Certified Hemodialysis Technicians for the protection of the citizens of New Mexico.

In its role as a regulatory body, the Board is responsible for conducting hearings upon charges related to violations of the Nursing Practice Act, Section 61-3-1 through 61-3-31 NMSA, 1978 and its rules. The Board of Nursing has two full time state investigators on staff to investigate complaints and allegations of violations of the Nursing Practice Act.  Additionally, the Board has an in-house prosecuting attorney.  This combination has ensured timely investigations. How to File a Complaint

The Board has continued to promote a transparent disciplinary process. Disciplinary hearings are conducted in accordance with the “Open Meetings Act” NMSA 1978, Chapter 10, Article 15 and all disciplinary actions are listed on the Board website and published in the Board newsletter quarterly.

Licensing Supervisor (BON #4333)
The position will ensure that all licensing applications for exam, endorsement, renewals and reinstatements are thoroughly reviewed for completeness and accuracy by the licensing team. The incumbent will direct and supervise licensing staff members relating to all licensing tasks for the Board of Nursing (BON), including administering and adhering to all BON Rules and Regulations. Position is responsible for hiring, evaluating performance, promoting and discipline of subordinate staff.

This position is a Pay Band 50.
