A seven-member board appointed by the Governor, the New Mexico Board of Nursing consists of four licensed nurses and three public members. Its meetings are open to the public; agendas are posted on the Board's website.

Jonathon Palmer

Mr. Palmer was appointed to the New Mexico Board of Nursing in January 2015.

Kirk Irby

Dr. Irby was appointed to the New Mexico Board of Nursing in December 2012. He received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1985 and received his Doctor of Pharmacy in 2004.

Claudia Saiz

Ms. Saiz was appointed to the New Mexico Board of Nursing July 2013.

Jacqueline Kaiser, MSA, BSN, APRN, CRNA

Ms. Kaiser was appointed to the New Mexico Board of Nursing August 2018. Ms. Kaiser obtained her BSN from the University of New Mexico in 2003, graduating Cum Laude, with Honors, and receiving the Clinical Excellence Award. She worked as a RN at UNM Hospital and the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque. In 2009, Ms. Kaiser graduated from one of the first established nurse anesthetist program in the U.S. and has since been practicing as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) in New Mexico both independently and as part of a care-team. She has served as a Board Member on the New Mexico Association of Nurse Anesthetists and as a Committee Member of the Advanced Practice Advisory Committee at the Board of Nursing. She is a native New Mexican from Aztec. In her free time, Ms. Kaiser enjoys spending quality time with her loving husband, two children, and three dogs.

Karen Castillo

Ms. Castillo was appointed to the Board of Nursing in June 2018. Ms. Castillo worked in the medical field for over 20 years. Her experience at Scott & White Hospital and Clinic (now Baylor Scott & White) included Medicare and Medicaid billing, serving as Desk Coordinator for the Surgical Desk, and serving as a Patient Relations Specialist in the Legal Department. Ms. Castillo began her banking career at FNB New Mexico Clayton, New Mexico five years ago and is currently the Loan Assistant to the branch president. Ms. Castillo is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Molino de Viento Chapter, where she is Chairperson of the Vietnam War Commemoration Committee and Chairperson of the Geological Records Committee. Ms. Castillo and her spouse, Randy, enjoy working in their garden and spending time with family.
